patriotism
i shall talk about singapore, although national day was like.. yesterday.. well i must say i love this country a lot, even though i wasn't born here.. but my parents think otherwise.. i was telling my mum that i regretted not wearing red yesterday, she just waved it off like nothing, saying, "so what?" then i was asking her why didn't she remind me to wear, then guess what she said? "aiyah, i'm not as patriotic as you lor..." ahh what an answer.. i said, "then you love hong kong ar?" she said yes...but, singapore is MY home.. well i came here at the age of 5? and now i'm 17... not counting last year when i was in canada, i had been living here for like 10 years already.. i spent my childhood here, i spent my teenage years here... of course i have the sense of belonging...
i love the food here. chicken rice, char kway teow, carrot cake, hokkien mee, nasi lemak, roti prata... and the list goes on... although sometimes fattening but nevertheless tasty.. you cannot find this variety of food anywhere else...
i like little shops that sell trinkets like handphone accessories, keychains, jewellery, stuffed toys and more.. i'm talking about minitoons... even though it's damn expensive, it's always nice to go window shopping and it makes you feel nice inside...
only in singapore then can find pasar malams selling cheap goods... but i hardly get anything... unless i really really want it very badly..
only in singapore then can talk singlish and actually have someone who actually understands you... i feel totally comfortable speaking singlish.. the singaporean accent is very special to me...
i can't think of anything else for now.. even my parents lived here with me for 10 years, they don't sense anything for the country. maybe it's the fact that they grew up in hong kong... hahaha... every time national day rolls around i bug them to hang the flag.. they complain i am mad or something.. -.- crazy eh.. ahh nvm..
